Introducing
Grounded Intention
Restoring ourselves, our relationships, and our world in community.
Our approach
We ask thoughtful questions to help you think critically about how you move through the world. Deeply integrated with Restorative Practices, our approach emphasizes building supportive connections, creating a welcoming environment, and cultivating a holistic wellness journey that considers the mental, emotional, and interpersonal aspects of well-being.
Holding space with you and for you
Ish Orkar (she/her) started Grounded Intention as a way to support and engage with others on this Restorative Journey we call life. Ish’s practice is survivor-centered and trauma-informed. Grounding her work in nonviolent communication and restorative justice, Ish builds the capacity for clients to connect with their true selves and create the future they dream of. Circle keeper, coach, facilitator, and trainer, Ish works with you to undo the shame that scaffolds our nervous systems as a result of trauma and oppression. She creates frameworks of belonging and removes the need to carry the burden of secrets about who and how we are, with the knowledge that we are our greatest gift.
Leading with creativity and bold ideas
Since she was a child, Ish has colored outside of the lines which remains one of her greatest assets and skills today. Where others cannot find a way forward, she works to transmute experiences of shame, trauma, and marginalization into sustainable self-love, where clients are able to love the parts of themselves they’ve hidden away from others most. Being in her presence creates full-circle moments where we can fully understand who we are at our core and love our messy, imperfectly perfect selves. Ish is currently located in New York City on the homeland of the Lenape (Lenapehoking). She looks forward to connecting and is open to meeting up for coffee either in person or virtually.

“I have had the absolute joy and privilege of working closely with Ish Orkar in numerous restorative community efforts over several years. Ish has such a gentle way of sharing her wisdom and inviting - and deepening - the wisdom of those around her. Ish brings such a depth and breadth of knowledge and insight into every circle - as an attorney, as a social worker, as an expert advocate on behalf of those who are harmed and marginalized, as an experienced circle keeper. By working with Ish, I have learned so much about how to thoughtfully communicate honestly in complex, high-stakes circumstances. Working with Ish is transformative at every level.”
